Tim van Delden (Chairman)

Tim is co-founder and Chief Investment Officer at HPE Growth Capital, where he is responsible for the overall investment strategy and is Chairman of the Investment Committee.

Tim started his career at Morgan Stanley’s investment banking department as part of the European M&A execution team. Subsequently he joined General Atlantic Partners and then the Avenue Capital Group. In his years at General Atlantic Partners, Tim focused on technology growth equity investments in Europe. At the Avenue Capital Group his focus was on Special Situations investing across various verticals and securities and headed the German speaking operations

Tim holds a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Technology in Aachen in Germany.


Bernhard Schmidt

Bernhard is the chairman of Petroleum Equity, an alternative investment firm focused on the upstream oil & gas industry outside North America. Petroleum Equity was founded in 2012 to address the significant shortage of private equity capital focused in this industry and area.

Bernhard has enjoyed an international career in upstream and industry at Shell and Honeywell in Europe and Asia. Returning to Europe Bernhard joined the executive board of Wintershall, where he was in charge for all global business development, exploration, acquisitions, start-up ventures and large projects.

Bernhard graduated as petroleum engineer from Montanuniversität Leoben and in addition gained an MBA from INSEAD.


Richard Riggs

On the AOG board, Richard represents Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures, the corporate venture capital subsidiary of the Saudi National Oil Company. Richard gained prior investment experience as an investment professional at BASF Venture Capital, the corporate venture capital subsidiary of the global chemicals group BASF. Prior he held a variety of technical roles at BASF and Ciba Specialty Chemicals.

Richard gained his MSc and PhD degrees in chemistry from the University of St. Andrews.


Geert van de Wouw

Geert is the Managing Director of Shell Technology Ventures, Royal Dutch Shell’s corporate venture capital fund. Geert started his career at Fluor, one of the world’s largest EPC firms, as a process engineer and construction supervisor, before moving into business development at Fluor. He joined Shell in 2003 as a regional director for business development, followed by several senior management roles in Contracting & Procurement in Shell internationally.

Geert holds an MSc. In molecular sciences from Wageningen University.
